Cold Heading Quality wire & rod (CHQ) is a quality designation that refers to steel specifically engineered for use in the cold heading industry, which forms steel coils at room temperature into complex shapes like bolts, screws, and rivets. This specialized steel requires a particular raw material chemistry and surface quality to provide optimal chemical, metallurgical and mechanical characteristics. This material can withstand the compressive forces and deformation involved in cold heading without compromising its strength or integrity.
Industrial Quality wire & rod (IQ) is a quality designation that refers to steel suitable for cold drawn parts with non-critical applications, such as U-bolts, pins, hooks and wire forms.
